There was only one temperature in the men's bathroom for the sinks & showers: scalding hot. There was no soap for washing hands (byo to the bathroom). I didn't notice any mold, but it will only be a matter of time with the condition it's kept in. The floor was gritty (there is nothing anyone can do about that in a place covered in sand). The tiles weren't set very well so there was standing water all over the place. The bathroom was pretty new (I think less than a year old), but that doesn't mean it was nice. When we were there it was quite windy, so think twice about bringing a small gazebo-style shade tent unless you can really stake it down well. It's a fine location to camp, though - walking distance to the beach, short drive to Bethany or Rehoboth or even Ocean City. The ground is pretty much sand, but it's hard-packed and difficult to drive a stake into without using a mallet (so bring one). There is no shade anywhere in the campground. I was in the (new, I think) tent campground on the north end of the peninsula just south of the bridge. The facilities at the beach are OK, but not always cleaned with the frequency that the population demands. If it's low tide when you arrive and you plan on staying all day, put your stuff way at the top of the beach or be prepared to move it later on. This is also true, but much more true at low tide than high tide. Another reviewer commented that the waves break very close to shore due to the somewhat steep descent into the water. Assateague Island (45 minutes south) has a beach that isn't quite as coarse. Kids digging should bring a sturdy shovel instead of a cheap plastic one. One reviewer commented that the sand is somewhat coarse here that's true, but it wasn't really rough to walk on (in my opinion). Once the guards leave, everyone gets back into the water at their own risk. At 5:00 they make everyone get out of the water as they exit. That wasn't really a problem, because as the swimming area became more crowded they just added more staffed chairs which expanded the swimming area. The lifeguards are out 9-5 and will only let you swim by guarded chairs. The beach is expansive and not terribly crowded. This was a beach vacation for us, so we spent a lot of time at the beach. We stayed for three nights at the tent campground just south of the bridge.
